Richard Glyn-Jones
Co-Founder and Director

Richard is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer and holds an MBA in Technology Management and has over 24 years’ experience in the commercial sector in both new technology programmes and supporting deployed military and commercial equipment. Richard has held the roles of Engineering Manager for supporting operational engine controls for the RAF for the Adour, RB-199, EJ200 and Pegasus engines before moving to become the Quality Manager and then Commercial and Logistics Manager for an Aerospace Components Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility in Australia. He was then the New Capability Director for the MRO facilities across Asia Pacific. 

Richard moved back to the UK in 2009 and joined Goodrich (later to become Collins Aerospace) as the Head of Business Development working on bid and proposals for many UK MoD and Foreign Military Sales contracts for ISR Ground stations with Integrated Logistics Support requirements.

In 2016 Richard founded a consultancy business focussed on new Technologies for UAVs, USVs, Simulation & Training, EO/IR gimbals, mission mapping and video exploitation software, ViDAR Optical Radar and Moving Target Indication. Through this he provided system design and operational support consultancy for both hardware and software packages. 

David Johnston
Co-Founder and Director

David is a trained Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) specialist with over 44 years’ experience in engineering and the delivery of all required ILS elements to satisfy system requirements including bid and proposal preparation.  Having operated at both DE&S and within industry, David has the full understanding to ensure that Tanglewood Group can supply full Through Life Support incorporating the methodology of ILS.

David began his career with in the Royal Air Force, working as an Airframe Technician/Manager on various platforms, progressing into the procurement and project teams within MoD for the delivery of Harrier T10 Aircraft into service.  Final tour undertaken saw him being integrated within the US Marines Corps Aircraft Engineering Authority for the AV-8B programme, stationed within North Carolina, USA.  Here David oversaw all aspects of engineering including ILS, recommending and implementing aircraft modifications, maintenance, safety and training; concentrating on the operational and cost benefits for the tri-nations programme (USA, UK and Spain). Since leaving the military, David has been employed as a Service Engineering Manager at Lucas Varity (TRW) leading a team in the Post Design Services and ILS activities for military programmes worldwide.  He then progressed as a Senior ILS Consultant at LSC employed at Raytheon UK, to carry out all ILS and LSA tasks for the introduction of an EO/IR ISR System (RAPTOR) into service.  For the past 19 years David was the ILS Manager and later Head of ILS and Support at Collins Aerospace, responsible for the completion and operation of RAPTOR in service and all ILS requirements for ISR Ground Stations delivered to air forces globally against Foreign Military Sales and Direct Commercial Sales contracts.  Accountable for the organisation, management and control of ILS, PDS and FSRs for worldwide sustainment contracts.

David Marshall
Co-Founder and Director

David is a trained Avionic (Electronic) engineer with 22 years’ experience in the Royal Air Force and a further 13 years in the commercial sector. The latter part of his military service provided engineering consultancy to the Integrated Project Teams, within the Defence Logistics Organisation (DLO), more commonly known today as DE&S, to procure and assist with the delivery of equipment / systems into service. Trained in Integrated Logistics Support (ILS), David has been a practitioner of ILS for 20 years within the military and within industry.

David began his career as an Avionic Technician/Manager in the Royal Air Force working on various platforms, progressing to supporting the procurement process for project teams within MoD. His last tour was with the MOD Saudi Arabian programme (MODSAP) based in London working for the UK Government, Department of International Trade as customer friend for the Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF).  David was primarily focused on work with the Tornado mid-life upgrade for the RSAF, liaising closely with British Aerospace to ensure all aspects of the contract were delivered to the UK Government and the RSAF’s satisfaction.
